Tuesdays with Dorie: Bourbon Bread Pudding
I want to be famous for my bread pudding some day. It hasn’t happened yet. I’m still searching for the magic recipe.
When Dorie’s Bourbon Bread Pudding appeared on my radar (aka Google Reader), I had to try it. And besides, it’s the perfect recycling plan for leftovers from my recent bread machine experiments.
I substituted brandy for the bourbon because I didn’t have the latter. Not sure it mattered. Couldn’t taste it anyway. I served it with some of my microwave lemon curd for additional flavor and loved it. My sister and her husband, who were stranded at my house because of the weather, gave it good reviews although they both complained there were no raisins. (I think it’s a southern thing–they’re from Alabama.)
The raisin issue got me thinking. Why not pour some of my “Apples in a Bag” over the bread pudding and then we would have plenty of raisins and even more cinnamon. Yeah! That was fabulous. I’ll be doing that more often. I’m anxious to see what the rest of you have done with this dessert.

p.s. I’m giving away donut pans on my Facebook Salad in a Jar page. You can get there from here or the sidebar and leave your entry.

Looks wonderful! I love the first picture!
I made pie instead.
Looks amazing!! Lemon curd sounds so good right now. So does the raisins and apples. Very well done!
That is gorgeous, Paula! Love the apples on top, too! Hope you stayed warm last week… that weather was absolutely crazy!
I love that first picture of the lemon curd, and I bet bread pudding slathered in it is very good stuff! The apples look amazing, but no raisins for me, please!
