Tuesdays with Dorie: Chockablock Cookies

chockablock cookies post
Since I just happen to have a few canning jars laying around the house (see title of this blog), I thought I would try “Cookies in a Jar.” What do you think?

Just kidding!

I was trying to come up with a different way to take pictures of these cookies. I went crazy with my camera.

Even tried putting them in front of a mirror.

Kinda fun but harder than it looks.

Back to the cookies. Much better cold than warm. Not sure why. Still not a fan of dried fruit with chocolate. I used dried cherries so my husband loved them. Personally, I’m looking forward to Burnt Sugar Ice Cream next week. It’s over 80 degrees here in Texas as I write this and I could use some good ice cream.

I found a few unbaked leftover cookies: and realized I also used dried cherries, and pecans! Love the cooky jar photo! – and the “chocablock through the looking glass” – I loved these cookies! You’ll love the burnt sugar ice cream – I made some this week (sans machine) – it was worth all the stirring (exceptional stuff)!

I didn’t add fruit to mine, because I whole heartedly believe that fruit belongs in pies, not cookies.

Neat pictures! I did dried cherries, too and I liked the flavor with the chocolate.

I love that last shot! Yeah, I wasn’t in love with these but I did like them…the figs made them for me.

I’m so happy you are excited for the burnt sugar ice cream. It really is so good! (still can’t believe it’s my pick. thought that day would never come!)

Love the last mirror pic – so pretty! I can’t wait for the ice cream either… however, that N. TX cold front last night left me shivering!! :)

I actually like the first shot. I really do. There’s something nostalgic about it. Your cookies look wonderful in every single shot! I bet they tasted as good as they look. Keep up the great work on the baking and photography!!

When it comes to taking pictures, Cookies can be the most difficult subjects to photograph. Yours look lovely, especially the one with the glass jar. :)

I have to agree with the better cold than warm comment. I find that to be the case with a lot of different cookies.
I love you photo experimenting-very cool!~

I opted out this week because of the whole fruit thing. Finally got to make that amazing Swedish Visiting Cake, though! YUM! Your pics are great, but they always are!

Love the mirror photo! That is amazing! I liked these SO much better cold!

Your photos look great. I went with dried cherries too. Liked the ones I made without molasses.

Cookies in a jar… how about cookie crumbs in the bed! Ha!

Yummy..they look great! Im glad your hubby liked them. I think everyone liked them so much here because I left out the dried fruit!

I like the top photo the best. Sometimes I like chocolate and dried fruit and sometimes I don’t – I think it’s more whether I’m in the mood or not.

My photo was taken on my counter with the cookies on a stacked cooling rack. Maybe because it’s so close up it looks like they’re still in the oven.

cookies in a jar–i like it! there was something about these cookies that made them hard to photo, right? delicious, tho!

I used raisins in mine and even my raisins hater ate them. Great job with all the photos.

I love your pictures, especially the last one! Your cookies look great, I love the way you can see the chocolate chips almost peeking out :-)

23 Foo April 28, 2010 at 4:21 pm

I loved your pics, too! Funny, I found them delicious straight out of the oven, but maybe that’s because I was on a diet and too hungry to wait. :)

24 Jessica April 29, 2010 at 9:34 am

Your cookies look great anyway! Come to think of it, these would be a great “cookie mix in a jar” cookie.

25 Katrina April 29, 2010 at 1:28 pm

It IS fun to play around with goodies and pictures, huh.
Love the look in the mirror! I loved the fruit with the chocolate more than I thought I did.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the mirror picture. Twice as many cookies. I think I just put too much stuff in mine. Simple sounds delicious.
