Tuesdays with Dorie: White Chocolate Brownies

One of my favorite things about the Tuesdays with Dorie group is the TWD website.  Members can post problems and complaints about the upcoming recipe along with things we like, what worked and didn’t work, and suggestions for others, usually based on our own mistakes.

Mary Ann posted about her challenge with the meringue. Dorie wrote instructions to invert the brownies after baking–carefully, so as not to crush the fragile meringue. That was all the warning I needed. I decided there was no way I was inverting the brownies. They would stay right side up–at least until the pictures were taken. Thankfully, the parchment paper sling I like to use with all brownies and bar cookies worked fine with these too.

I probably wouldn’t make these for a soccer team or a picnic.  But they would be perfect for a shower, tea or ladies luncheon–especially in the spring and summer when fresh raspberries are sweet and plentiful.

They look delicious! I inverted my brownies but of course the meringue was a little crushed :-( I just picked the best looking ones for the picture :-)

Your meringue looks perfect! I almost used your idea for a ‘sling’ but I didn’t have enough parchment paper. But next time I will add the meringue, especially after seeing how looks.

Picture perfect, Paula. Excuse the alliteration. ;)
Agreed–bring on real chocolate, save these for a shower or something!

Using the parchment paper seems to be the answer to saving these brownies although I am not sure how you knew they were done through the meringue.

Yours look really good. You always have good ideas how to make a recipe better.

These are so pretty! The white chocolate & raspberry combination would work beautifully together.

Fun photos. I agree these would be perfect for a spring shower. I love the ‘zing’ of the berries!

Wow, your brownies actually look like the ones in BFMHTY!! I used the sling method on my first batch too: worked like a charm, unfortunately they were still undercooked! Loved my second batch though, thank you so much for baking with me this week!

Oh pishaw…. the local high school football team would love these. :) These look like Dorie’s – one of the few I’ve seen that actually look like they should! Love the photo of the brownie on the server – great shot – beautiful!

They look so pretty! I like how the meringue looks, but just wasn’t feeling it for these brownies, so I skipped it.

They sure look pretty. One of my daughters really liked these, but the rest of the family were indifferent. I used the parchement sling method too, I wonder why Dorie didn’t suggest it.
