TWD: Peanutty Blondies and Fun with Dorie Herself

November 2, 2010

Dorie and Paula

Me (left) with Dorie Greenspan (right)

Last Sunday afternoon, I had the opportunity to attend a cooking class at Central Market in Dallas taught by the REAL Dorie Greenspan. It was a fabulous experience not only because I got to see Dorie, but I also got to eat some tasty vittles and meet some fellow Tuesdays with Dorie members including Amy of Sing for Your Supper, Jessica of My Baking Heart and Jaime of Good Eats ‘n Sweet Treats.

Dorie was thrilled with her birthday cupcake.

Dorie’s engaging personality and entertaining manner made the afternoon fly. I loved how she kept whipping out her iPhone to take pictures as if she wanted to remember the moment as much as we did.

It probably won’t surprise you she admitted she doesn’t normally pay attention to calories. You can’t tell it by her petite figure but her recipes are proof.

Take these Peanutty Blondies for example. They are chewy, chocolaty and RICH!

I used the mini-chocolate chips Dorie recommended but did not add peanuts as it seemed over the top with all the peanut butter already in the mix. Mine turned out dense and flavorful but a little bit heavy. I may have overcooked them slightly but they were still good.

You can get the recipe for Dorie’s Peanutty Blondies from Nicole at Bakeologie.

Coming tomorrow:  My Favorite–Glazed Peanut Butter Bars

You met Dorie! She has such an engaging personality! I think she looks like a cute little elf, don’t you? How does she eat stuff like this and stay so teeny?

Hey Kitch, I think Dorie told me her secret although she didn’t call it that. She said, “I TASTE everything.”

You lucky gal, meeting Dorie. She has changed my cooking life with her recipes.

Did you double the chocolate since you cut the peanuts? It looks like a lot of chocolate and I love chocolate.

What a lovely time you must have had and what a great opportunity to have met Dorie and all the other ladies. Your blondies don’t look too overdone to me :) The picture of you and Dorie is lovely and the picture of Dorie taking a photo of her cupcake is actually really sweet.

How cool that you met Dorie!! That’s a great photo of the two of you! I really liked the crunch and saltiness of the peanuts in the blondies. I think I would have preferred regular chocolate chips instead of minis, though. I like a big bite of chocolate!

19 Peggy November 2, 2010 at 9:13 pm

What a great picture of the two of you and how much fun you must have had. Plus, your brownies are very pretty!!
